Book condition grading scale

As New / Fine: A book that is in pristine condition, either unread or opened very carefully with no defects. It may have been stored well but is not a factory-fresh copy.

Near Fine: A book that is very close to Fine, but has one or two very minor, specific defects noted by the seller.

Very Good: A book that shows some signs of use, but is still a solid, collectible copy. There are no tears to the binding or pages, but there may be minor flaws like a previous owner's name or slight wear on the cover.

Good: An average, worn book with all pages and text intact. It may have more significant wear, such as sunning, minor tears on the dust jacket, or highlighting/underlining. All defects should be noted.

Fair: A worn book with complete text pages, but may have significant issues like a loose binding, missing endpapers, or noticeable soiling. A dust jacket may be present but torn or damaged.

Poor: A book that is very worn, possibly with loose pages, a stained or scuffed cover, or other significant damage. It is still readable, but has multiple defects.
